In Munch's footsteps

Why not take an enchanting forest walk with rocky cliffs and waves (and Edvard Munch)? Wander through the landscape in Edvard Munch's footsteps, see with his eyes and discover the motifs for several of his most famous works?

The peace of the forest and its many motifs

To the left of the main gate begins the path we have laid out, which runs through the forest, parallel to Rammeveien, down to Nedre Ramme, the forest and the beach.
Here the journey begins. Here you just have to take a deep breath and let your legs move.
You may meet our sheep, who often stay around the hill along the path. They are happy for a visit and a friendly smile, too!
When you get past the field, something magical happens to the forest's peace, and when it happens, it is just before this part of the walk is over, so enjoy the moment...
Suddenly you are walking under the trees along Rammeveien, where the bohemians, Oda and Kristian, Hans and Edvard, walked (perhaps barefoot?) during the summers when Oslo was called Kristiania.

Then you will come to a fenced area, with a sign and a gate. This is where you should enter. Make sure the sheep don't get out! They are friendly and nothing to be afraid of, just pass through and close the next gate well too.

Now you are in a forest area with a lot of exciting things to see, and just follow the path, and you will arrive.

After mixed terrain and path, you will come to a clear main vein through the forest. Here you are going downhill, and you will probably understand that, when you can glimpse both the lake and perhaps the information board we have set up?

The information board shows photographs of all the paintings that have been painted in the landscape you are in, or inside Munch's villa.

From here, the path leads towards the coast, and we have set up small posts with green crosses so you know where to go.

When you hear the waves washing against the rock, and smell seaweed, you will soon be at the highlight:

The sculpture "Solveig with the Apple", by Peter Linde, which stands at the top, at the very edge of the rocky cliff.

From here you can walk up to Edvard Munch's villa and look into the windows, go up to the ledge and enjoy the view...
