På denne konserten skal vi bli kjent med intet mindre enn to av frontfigurene til Oslo-filharmonien: konsertmester Elise Båtnes og solocellist Louisa Tuck. Disse fremragende utøverne tar oss gjennom en musikalsk reise gjennom hele det eurasiske kontinentet — fra snødekte fjell i Norge, til hektisk storbymylder og asiatiske stepper — med både folkemusikk og en solid dose humor og godt humør på veien. Velkommen til et intimt møte med stor musikk, fremført av to av våre ledende musikere!

For a Lease

As described by the composer, violinist, comedian and actor Aleksey Igudesman: “For Elise is one of Beethoven’s most-known pieces. For a Lease is not. Or not yet. Let’s be honest: the original, with all the respect I have for Beethoven, is not the most invigorating piece of music and is harmonically borderline kitsch at times. I tried to remove some of the kitschiness and make it more emotional and intimate in parts, while epic in others. Incidentally, did you know that on Beethoven’s original manuscript it said For Therese? Therese must have been pretty cheesed off when the work was published with someone else’s name on it!”

«The finale work for this concert is by Norwegian composer, Johan Halvorsen (one of the first principal conductors of the Oslo Philharmonic), the famous Passacaglia. Inspired by a theme of Händel. Both musicians, one Norwegian, one British, portraying different musical nationalities. A set of virtuosic variations for both instruments, a firm favourite for all string players!»
